about

Limanjaya is a music producer and modular synth enthusiast from Seattle, WA.

He started producing his own beats and compositions on his laptop in high school, but things began to change when he got his hands on his first analog synthesizer. His obsession for hardware gear grew stronger, and a foray into modular synthesizers was only inevitable. Diving head first into eurorack, his love for experimental electronic music grew, and his desire for producing hip-hop on his laptop faded out of existence. Approaching his modular like a DAW, he blends elements of hip-hop, ambient, and noise music into a unique blend of self-expression.

“Limanjaya is dead...long live Limanjaya”
My first modular-only release, ‘Rotations’ marks the end of the Josh Lim that once kept an MPD and a record player on his desk to produce beats. Choosing to embrace the tangibility of a physical instrument (along with all of it’s flaws, limitations, and unpredictability), I have abandoned the computer screen to create something that is more interesting and self-expressive than anything I have done in the past. With this record, my goal is to create something that is unique and personal to me, while also being diverse in my style / sound, and paying homage to the things that have inspired me to get to this point.

All music produced by Josh Lim, on a modular synthesizer.
Mastered by Graig Markel of Recovery Effects and Devices.
No computers were used in the making of this record.
